System Administrator

SYSTEMTEC is seeking a System Administrator for an onsite opportunity in Columbia, SC. Candidate will deliver will provide Tier 2 systems administration and technical support within a 24/7 service center environment. This role focuses on monitoring enterprise infrastructure, resolving incidents, and supporting end users and IT stakeholders across a large, distributed network.


Required Qualifications of the System Administrator:

• Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR Microsoft Fundamentals or CompTIA certification OR 2+ years of IT Help Desk support in a Windows Active Directory environment OR 2+ years of hands-on experience in Windows Active Directory, networking, IT operations, and hardware support
• Working knowledge of Windows Active Directory administration, including user and group management
• Experience supporting enterprise servers, desktops, and network infrastructure
• Familiarity with system monitoring, patch management, and endpoint management tools (e.g., SCCM, BigFix, or similar)
• Understanding of backup, restore, and recovery procedures
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across phone and email channels in a fast-paced environment
• Must be willing and able to work assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Must be able to obtain up to a Secret security clearance

Preferred Skills/Experience of the System Administrator

• Experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or enterprise service desk
• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, SCOM, vCenter, or Nagios
• Experience supporting large-scale Active Directory environments (DNS, GPOs, OUs, Sites/Subnets)
• Exposure to desktop imaging and enterprise deployment processes
• Knowledge of virtualization platforms and enterprise storage solutions

Responsibilities of the System Administrator:

• Provide Tier 2 remote technical support and systems administration in a 24/7 operations environment
• Monitor and maintain enterprise infrastructure, responding to alerts and incidents
• Perform Active Directory administration, including account lifecycle management and access control
• Execute patching, system updates, and routine maintenance activities
• Support backup, recovery, and data protection processes
• Document incidents, changes, and resolutions in accordance with operational standards

Work Location: Onsite in Columbia, SC. Candidates must be local. Initial training will occur Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM for approximately 8-12 weeks, after which assigned shift schedules (including nights, weekends, and holidays) will apply.
