Job Summary and Qualifications

An Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA/COTA) administers patient-centered therapeutic treatments across various age groups following a care plan designed by a licensed Occupational Therapist. Responsibilities include guiding patients through daily living exercises, tracking progress, and maintaining facility safety standards.

Core Responsibilities

• Administering Care: Carry out delegated treatment programs, therapeutic activities, and physical modalities
• Patient Monitoring: Track, record, and review patient status changes and responses to treatment
• Communication: Report updates to the primary Occupational Therapist and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
• Safety & Compliance: Participate in infection control protocols, fire safety education, and equipment training

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program (or vocational school graduate)
• Licensure/Certification: State-specific active COTA/OTA license
• Life Support: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. max with frequent carrying and lifting of objects up to 25 lbs.
