ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking dedicated ICU Registered Nurses to join our dynamic team. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a critical environment, including floating between multiple facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including titrating medications and managing critical care drips.
• Collaborate with medical staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
• May be required to precept new staff or travelers as needed by the unit.
• Maintain accurate and updated patient records in the electronic health record system (EPIC experience required).

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of one year of nursing experience in an ICU setting.
• Basic Dysrhythmia certification (75% passing score required before signing the contract).
• Valid certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and weekends as needed.
• Experience with critical care modalities such as vents, BiPAP, and CPAP.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Unit Information

• 12-bed ICU/PCU unit with a typical census of 6-8 patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2 in ICU and 1:4 in PCU.
• Collaborative environment with hospitalists available 24/7 and intensivist support.
• Support staff available, including patient care techs as census allows.

Schedule and Orientation

• 12-hour shifts (645 AM to 645 PM).
• Block scheduling may be available for night shifts.
• Three shifts of unit-specific orientation provided.
• Schedule published four weeks in advance.

Additional Information

• Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per month.
• Holiday work based on unit needs.
• Potential call for low census to ensure hours are met.
• Dress code: Navy scrubs; optional navy scrub jackets.
