This role focuses on diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel engines and related systems for a fleet of buses and heavy equipment. You will perform routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, and ensure vehicles remain safe, reliable, and operational. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in diesel engines, transmissions, HVAC systems, and related components.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including inspections, oil changes, brake services, and other preventive maintenance tasks.
• Conduct repairs efficiently using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair manuals to ensure high-quality workmanship.
• Work on solo projects as well as contribute to team-oriented tasks to maintain overall fleet reliability.
• Perform work on heavy equipment and bus fleets, including MCI J Model buses, as required.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose complex issues in diesel engines, transmissions, and related systems.
• Hands-on experience working on heavy equipment.
• Proficiency with diesel-specific hand tools and diagnostic equipment, and the ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience with hydraulics and HVAC systems in a diesel environment.
• Ownership of a complete set of personal tools suitable for diesel mechanic work.

Work Environment

The position is based in a 12,000 sq. ft. garage environment with a small team of three mechanics, fostering close collaboration and direct communication. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The role is hourly and involves hands-on work with diesel engines, heavy equipment, and a fleet of buses, including MCI J Model buses. Personal protective equipment is not strictly required, but all necessary PPE will be provided if needed. You must supply your own tools for daily use. The setting emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with a focus on keeping the fleet safe, reliable, and ready for service.

This is a Permanent position based out of Phoenixville, PA.

The pay range for this position is $58656.00 - $68640.00/yr.
