Sr Lead Security Engineer - Email Security

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• 10+ years of cybersecurity experience, including substantial experience leading enterprise email security programs and engineering teams.
• Deep knowledge of email security technologies, including secure email gateways, phishing protection, threat detection, encryption, cloud email security platforms, and SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and operate enterprise-scale security architectures in highly regulated environments.
• Advanced knowledge of software engineering, application development, and technical fields such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.
• Strong experience in threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, risk analysis, and security control validation.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one programming or automation language and the ability to independently solve complex technical problems.
• Experience applying enterprise-authorized AI in engineering workflows, validating AI-assisted recommendations, and accounting for data sensitivity, resiliency, and audit requirements.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management, regulatory expectations, and audit requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving cybersecurity, infrastructure, engineering, risk, compliance, audit, vendor management, and business teams.
• Strong executive communication skills, including presenting technical strategies, risks, business cases, roadmaps, metrics, investment recommendations, and program updates to senior leaders.
• Exceptional leadership, influence, and problem-solving abilities, including building consensus, driving decisions, balancing priorities, and delivering measurable risk reduction.
• Preferred: Experience securing Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, on-premises Exchange/Outlook, or comparable enterprise email platforms.
• Preferred: Experience leading large-scale email security transformation or modernization programs.
• Preferred: CISSP, CCSP, CISM, or an equivalent industry certification.
• Preferred: Experience in financial services, banking, or another highly regulated sector.
• Preferred: Experience supporting regulatory examinations, internal audits, and third-party risk assessments.
• Preferred: Familiarity with AI-driven security operations, threat detection, and email risk analytics.

• Lead the strategy, architecture, engineering, and lifecycle management of enterprise email security platforms that protect critical business communications.
• Set the roadmap for email security capabilities, including secure email gateways, phishing protection, threat detection and response, encryption, data loss prevention, and cloud security services.
• Act as the technical authority for email security architecture and ensure solutions meet cybersecurity, resiliency, regulatory, and multi-level security requirements.
• Work with Cyber, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Audit, and business stakeholders to assess threats, prioritize investment, clarify security needs, and manage risk.
• Lead complex engineering and modernization efforts from concept to deployment, including evaluations, migrations, upgrades, and platform transformations.
• Drive incident response, threat analysis, risk assessments, and remediation for phishing, business email compromise, malicious campaigns, and emerging email threats.
• Establish metrics, KPIs, and reporting to demonstrate platform effectiveness, threat reduction, operational performance, resiliency, and business value.
• Prepare executive presentations, strategy papers, management updates, and governance communications for senior leaders, risk committees, and oversight forums.
• Manage vendor relationships and hold partners accountable for product roadmaps, operational performance, risk remediation, and contractual commitments.
• Mentor and lead engineering teams, fostering innovation, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and effective resource management during disruptive events.
• Use enterprise-authorized AI and reuse-first engineering practices to accelerate security analysis, testing, control validation, and documentation while maintaining data protection, auditability, and compliance.
