Job Overview Oliver Wyman is seeking a Talent Manager to manage a population of 60 consultants across Oliver Wyman’s offices and practices. This role will be responsible for scheduling and performance management, and for personally engaging with the consultants in your group to understand their strengths, development objectives, personal preferences and career goals. You will also interact with Partners and Talent Managers in other parts of the business to assemble consulting teams and remediate any issues. As a hybrid role, you are expected to be present in the office three days per week. There is no option to be fully remote. Key Responsibilities Talent Management Use the performance management process to engage consultants on development needs and training areas. Develop relationships with each consultant and be seen as a trusted advisor. Assist consultants in accessing resources for career advice. Assist in escalating employee relations issues or questions around general Human Capital operations. Monitor for work‑life‑quality issues and raise them when needed. Collaborate with the Human Capital Manager on managing the pyramid, training, onboarding, and performance improvement initiatives. Project Staffing Understand at a high level the nuances of the type of work and roles being filled. Liaise with project team leaders to understand staffing needs in your area. Collect all relevant details from Partners and Practice Group TMs for assigned projects to be staffed. Anticipate capacity issues and manage consultants’ and Partner expectations accordingly. Manage staff for Business Development, Intellectual Capital and other beach work. Communicate staffing outcomes to consultants in an empathetic manner. Track mobility issues, holidays, trainings, background checks and other ad‑hoc staffing tasks. Consultant Development and Performance Management Understand consultant performance, skills and development needs to facilitate smooth staffing. Know the performance management framework, competency model and how it applies to own consultants. Review all performance appraisals and follow up on any issues or flags. Coordinate, attend and contribute to annual career review meetings for own consultant population. Data, Analysis and Reporting Review weekly utilization reports and cross‑reference with retention data. Assist with the assembly of the project pipeline and consultant availability reports. Help prepare documents and exhibits for senior leadership meetings, using Excel and PowerPoint. Assist in the analysis of performance outcome results. Perform ad‑hoc analyses and reporting as needed. Demonstrate capability in using enterprise resource management tools and performance systems. Maintain all employee records and keep resource planning systems up to date. Prepare key weekly reports. Oliver Wyman Development Participate in project work within and adjacent to the broader Human Capital function on topics such as employee experience, retention, benefits, flexible working, utilization, and performance. Organize own work and guide colleagues in building project deliverables. Work on cross‑practice group, market, regional teams to deliver special or ad‑hoc assignments collaboratively. Be a firm citizen and embody Oliver Wyman values in day‑to‑day activities. Demonstrate a willingness to learn more about Oliver Wyman outside of the Talent Manager function by seeking broader involvement opportunities. Experience Required Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic client‑services business environment. Management consulting and/or Human Resources experience preferred. Skills and Attributes Proven ability to establish and grow relationships at all levels within an organization. Credible, highly professional, able to communicate and negotiate effectively while managing diverse personalities, cultures and backgrounds. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor the message to fit the audience. Self‑motivated and proactive; takes full ownership of work and flexibly prioritizes tasks as needed. Comfortable working with data (Excel, PowerPoint and enterprise resource management software). Creative, strategic thinker who continually seeks ways to improve processes. Genuinely interested in the development and career success of the consultants you work with. Strong attention to detail and high accuracy to juggle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, and the ability to organize, prioritize and manage one's day and schedule to meet deadlines.
