Machine Operator

This role involves operating and loading a variety of fabrication machines in a production environment, including punch presses, press brakes, NC turrets, and laser equipment. The Machine Operator reads blueprints, uses precision measuring tools, and performs inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards while supporting efficient and safe production.

Responsibilities

• Load and operate fabrication machines such as punch presses, press brakes, NC turret machines, and laser equipment according to production requirements.
• Follow production schedules and work instructions to complete jobs accurately and on time.
• Read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Use tape measures, calipers, and other hand tools to set up machines and verify part dimensions.
• Perform basic troubleshooting on machines and equipment to resolve minor mechanical issues and maintain smooth operation.
• Inspect parts during and after production to ensure they meet quality and dimensional specifications.
• Handle general production and general labor tasks, including material handling, staging, and organizing work areas.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area by following established safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
• Document production information and inspection results as required by shop procedures.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify and resolve production or quality issues.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience operating fabrication machinery such as punch presses, press brakes, NC turret machines, and/or laser equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints to determine part requirements and machine setups.
• Hands-on experience using calipers and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Proficiency using tape measures and hand tools in a production or fabrication environment.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting on machines and equipment.
• Experience performing inspection tasks to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications.
• Background in general production or general labor within a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions consistently.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when setting up machines and measuring parts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Comfort working with multiple types of fabrication equipment and learning new machines as needed.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a production team.
• Good communication skills to report issues and coordinate with coworkers and supervisors.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing and fabrication facility that uses equipment such as punch presses, press brakes, NC turret machines, and laser systems. You work around mechanical and production equipment, using tools like tape measures, calipers, and various hand tools throughout your shift. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with an emphasis on safety, accuracy, and adherence to procedures. You can expect to be on your feet, handling materials and parts, and working closely with other production team members in a shop-floor setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Owatonna, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
