NATURE OF WORK:

This position supports and maintains both administrative and instructional technology hardware and software. This work includes repair of technology-related equipment. The employee will provide onsite assistance in classrooms, media centers, computer labs and administrative offices and identify problems and take appropriate corrective action. Typically, this employee will provide first response support from the system level for the maintenance and operation of computers, software, and networks at the building level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum High School diploma, preferred Associate degree in Computer Science or related field and one year of experience repairing and maintaining technology related equipment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to communicate effectively with all users, both verbally and written, while maintaining a positive and professional attitude. Ability to systematically troubleshoot technology devices. Strong knowledge of computers and related technologies. General knowledge of components of local area networks. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows, Google Suite, and other applications. Demonstrates ownership of customer issues and independently seeks solutions. Ability to create guides and tutorials to support hardware and software.

DUTIES:

Provide phone and chat support to teachers, students and parents on hardware and software applications. Maintains general knowledge of computers and related technology devices Maintains an inventory of electronics components needed to make timely repairs Provide timely and effective support for Technology devices including but not limited to desktops, laptops, and printers. Repairs, maintains, and upgrades technology-related equipment. Reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals. Operates standard and specialized electronics devices in testing and troubleshooting computers and other technology-related equipment. Uses a work-order tracking system for routine repair and maintenance of equipment. Provides face-to-face as well as remote assistance to users as required. Supports a variety of hardware and software applications and maintains confidentiality. Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity. Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are for medium work. Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things. Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving instructions, assignments or directions from superiors. Language Ability: Requires the ability to read simple forms. Requires the ability to prepare time sheets and maintenance reports using prescribed format. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English. Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract. Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape. Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using janitorial equipment. Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as janitorial equipment. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination. Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under minimal levels of stress. Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.)
