Job Title: Principal Specialist, System Safety EngineerJob Code: 42574Job Location: Palm Bay, FLJob Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday offJob Description: The Principal Specialist, System Safety Engineer will provide technical leadership for safety analyses across Airborne Solutions programs, including cockpit displays, mission processors, and sensors. Typical tasks include hazard analysis, causal analysis, risk assessment, safety program planning, and reporting.Essential Functions: Lead hazard analysis, causal analysis, hazard tracking, and safety risk assessment IAW MIL-STD-882E, ARP4754A, and ARP4761Working knowledge of DO-178 and DO-254 development processesLead development of System Safety Program Plans, Hazard Analyses, and Safety Assessment ReportsLead and present system safety risk assessments at customer design review meetingsPresent safety cases to WSESRB, FISTRP and/or SSSTRPConsult with other engineering staff to evaluate interfaces between hardware, software, and operational performance requirements of the overall system.Strong oral/written communication and customer interface skillsPrepare work estimates, schedule inputs and metric data to project managementWork closely with Government customers to ensure that the System Safety requirements are defined and implemented in a way that will allow for the verification and validation of the systemDocument System Safety artifacts in DOORS and/or CameoWilling to travel to customer sites when required.Ability to obtain US Government clearance.Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
