Inventory Management & Project Coordinator
Industry: Renewable Energy / Power Generation
Travel: Approximately 50% — travel may include locations up to 1 hour from the home base and/or approximately 4 hours to southern solar sites.
Position Summary
The Inventory Management & Project Coordinator is responsible for the administration, control, accuracy, and optimization of inventory supporting renewable generation assets, including solar facilities, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), substations, and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment .
Approximately 90% of the position will focus on inventory management, material control, warehouse operations, procurement support, auditing, and reporting , while approximately 10% will support project coordination activities related to renewable operations, maintenance initiatives, and small-scale projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with inventory/material management, ERP systems (SAP preferred), Excel, warehouse operations, and inventory reporting , preferably within the utility, power generation, renewable energy, industrial, or maintenance environment .
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Control – 90%
- Maintain accurate inventory records for spare parts, consumables, tools, and critical equipment.
- Manage inventory transactions including receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, and returns.
- Maintain complete documentation and traceability for inventory movements.
- Monitor stock levels and establish reorder points to prevent material shortages.
- Coordinate inventory receipt, storage, distribution, and transfers between renewable sites.
- Track serialized and high-value components for warranty and asset traceability.
- Conduct physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and annual inventory audits.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain audit-ready inventory documentation and records.
Warehouse & Storeroom Operations
- Oversee warehouse and site storage locations.
- Ensure materials are properly organized, labeled, secured, and maintained.
- Conduct site visits to validate physical inventory and storage practices.
- Coordinate material transfers between renewable generation facilities.
Procurement & Vendor Support
- Work with Supply Chain and Operations teams to identify material requirements.
- Create and track purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
- Monitor supplier deliveries and material availability.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding inventory, replacement components, and warranty claims.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Prepare monthly inventory and material management reports.
- Analyze inventory data and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Develop inventory procedures, work instructions, and best practices.
- Recommend inventory optimization strategies to reduce carrying costs and equipment downtime.
- Standardize inventory practices across renewable generation sites.
Project Coordination – 10%
- Track small-scale operational projects and initiatives.
- Monitor schedules, milestones, action items, and deliverables.
- Maintain project documentation and records.
- Support project meetings, status updates, and stakeholder communications.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering Technology , or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 2–3+ years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, material management, supply chain, maintenance planning, or renewable operations.
- Experience with ERP systems; SAP preferred .
- Experience in power generation, utilities, renewable energy, industrial maintenance, solar, or BESS is highly preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
- Strong inventory control, material management, and auditing knowledge.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% .
