Role: Banner Health Endocrinologist study and treat conditions affecting glands and hormones that regulate metabolism, growth, development, sexual function, and other important functions. Our endocrinologists offer multiple treatment options to help patients with various conditions. Position Summary This position manages a complex caseload of patients by providing comprehensive nutritional assessments and nutrition-focused physical exams, developing and managing nutrition care plans, and monitoring outcomes. It includes patient and family nutrition counseling, collaboration on Nutrition Standards of Practice and Education materials, and participation in interdisciplinary health care teams with input into patient care policies, programs, and quality improvement activities. The role also provides in-service education in areas of expertise. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nutrition assessment of patients’ nutritional needs, including nutrition-focused physical exams as appropriate. Demonstrate and maintain competency in enteral and parenteral clinical practice protocols and oral nutrition management as evidenced by initial competency exams and ongoing evaluation. Write orders to initiate and manage nutrition care for all assigned patients, including those receiving nutrition support (parenteral and enteral) per protocols. Evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan and communicate with other healthcare team members to optimize nutrition outcomes; document information in medical records and care plans per regulatory requirements. Provide nutrition education to patients, families, staff, and other health care professionals; develop effective teaching materials and in-service programs; assess patient and family response to education. Provide leadership in coverage areas, monitor patient care procedures, and act as liaison with nursing; participate in process improvement teams; mentor new staff and interns where assigned. Participate in continuous quality improvement activities to ensure optimal nutrition care outcomes; may participate in outcome studies; may manage assigned staff as needed (recruit, train, evaluate, manage performance). Interact with patients, families, health care providers, and nutrition and dietary staff to support high-quality nutrition assessment, planning, delivery, and outcome measurement; work independently and provide guidance to nutrition services staff; may provide community education. Minimum Qualifications Must possess knowledge of nutrition and dietetics demonstrated by a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent coursework. Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD Eligible as defined by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Effective January 1, 2024, CDR requires a minimum Master’s degree to be eligible for the registration examination. Must obtain RD credentials within 6 months of hire and maintain current registration with the CDR. Licensure as required by state law. Must communicate effectively and function independently, with strong prioritization of the patient caseload. For roles in Behavioral Health clinical settings serving children, an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit are required at hire.
