Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Telemetry RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department Boarding/Hold Unit at a Level 1 Trauma Facility. This role primarily involves caring for admitted Med-Surg/Telemetry patients holding in the ED for hospital beds. Candidates must possess strong cardiac telemetry background, rhythm interpretation skills, and drip management experience.

Key Details

• Shifts: 12-Hour Shifts (07:00–19:00 or 19:00–07:00; self-scheduling available)
• Weekends/Holidays: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle; rotated holidays
• On-Call/Standby: None
• EMR: Cerner
• Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs

Unit & Clinical Overview

• Unit Size & Ratios: ED Holds (CRMC: 60 ED beds / MGMC: 31 ED beds) | 1:4 Ratio
• Primary Patient Types: ED Boarders awaiting inpatient Med-Surg/Telemetry placement (primarily high-acuity Cardiac/Tele)
• Cardiac Drips: Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem (must be able to decrease/titrate per physician orders)
• Airway & Telemetry: CPAP/BiPAP (No vents); No monitor techs in ED—RNs must independently read and interpret strips
• Support Staff: ED Charge Nurse and ED PCTs available
• Floating Scope: May float between Med/Surg, Telemetry, overflow units, and across CRMC/MGMC EDs

Requirements & Onboarding

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry/Cardiac experience (within the past 6 months). Prior travel experience not required.
• Certifications: Active BLS and ACLS
• Skills: Strong rhythm interpretation, IV starts, medication administration, and drip management
• Screening & Orientation:
  • Must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia Exam within 48 hours of offer (max 2 attempts)
  • Must pass a Pass/Fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation (study guide provided)
  • 2 shifts unit-specific orientation at primary campus
