About the Position

Job Title

Respiratory Therapist – NICU (RRT)

Albuquerque, NM

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 4x12 Hours (18:00–06:30) | 36 Hours/Week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy care in a NICU setting, managing an average daily census of 6–10 ventilated patients
• Perform and assist with endotracheal intubation/extubation, suctioning, nasal and oral airway placement, and tracheostomy care
• Conduct ABG interpretation and pulmonary toileting procedures
• Collect sputum specimens and perform oropharyngeal suctioning as indicated
• Float to adult respiratory therapy unit as needed within scope of practice
• Work weekends as required by unit needs, with no more than 3 consecutive weekends

Required Qualifications

• Active or pending New Mexico Respiratory Therapy License
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications (RQI certifications not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Proficiency in NICU and Pediatric Critical Care respiratory procedures

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel therapy experience in high-acuity or NICU settings
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records charting system
• Experience in a Level I Trauma, teaching, or children's hospital environment
