Flight Test Instrumentation Technician Level IIIJT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.The Flight Test Instrumentation Technician Level III will help us maintain all aspects of the flight test systems for a variety of advanced fighter aircraft. The Technician will conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modification, inspection, wire repair, and troubleshooting.Apply technical knowledge of electronic principles to solve complex problems using diagrams, schematics, engineering data and test equipment, including power systems, sensors/transducers, data/video recording, TSPI, Ethernet, and telemetry subsystemsPerform operational checks, pre & post flight procedures, troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation on-aircraft as required, utilizing knowledge of schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, and technical publications documentationFabricate, terminate, and repair cable harnesses, conduct electronic tests on a regular basis, and build prototype electronic assembliesProvide feedback, insights, and technical knowledge to assist in complex aircraft modifications, troubleshooting efforts, and process and procedure improvementsMentor lower-level technicians and provide on-site guidance for some tasks, as neededPerform all other related duties as assigned or requested and support the engineering staffEssential Functions and DutiesDocument the operation and performance of airborne test instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and ground support equipmentUse diagnostic tools like a multimeter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, frequency meter, and logic probe to accomplish specific tasks like checkout, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairFabricate cable harnesses, populate electronic assemblies, crimping, and wire terminations to interface equipment with sensors, data acquisition units, and test equipment and expert soldering skillsUse thermocouples, temperature reference junctions, accelerometers, charge amplifiers, pressure transducers, strain gauges, piezoelectric transducers, flow meters, transmitters, and signal conditionersHands-on experience in electrical, instrumentation, and avionics maintenance on aircraft like, tubes, transistors, logic gates, and/or high-power RF devicesRange Position DescriptionAbility to work in a field environment, which may include shift work, overtime, and travel to remote locationsRegular exposure to weather and temperature extremes, drafts, and noiseRequirements - Education, Technical, and Work ExperienceAn associate's degree or higher from an accredited college; or technical schooling with courses in math, basic electronics, and microwave theory; or a military equivalent and a minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on experience are required for this position.In addition, an Electronics Technician III must possess the following qualifications:International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET) certificationComprehensive knowledge in general electronicsDemonstrated expertise in electronic, electro-mechanical, and computer systems and the test equipment used to maintain and repair equipmentExperience with tubes, transistors, logic gates, and/or high-power radio frequency (RF) devicesExpert-level troubleshooting and soldering capabilitiesMust possess a valid, state issued driver's licenseMust be able to obtain and maintain security clearanceMust be a U.S. citizenSalaryThe expected salary range for this position is $84,000 to $94,000 annually.Note: The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet. Grease or oil may be found on working surfaces. Outdoor duties may be performed on gravel or shingled roof. Climbing stairs, ladders, towers, and scaffolds, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, (anything heavier requires two or more people or mechanical assistance) are required.
