This role requires Florida AHCA Clearinghouse background screening. Part Time - Painting, patching and carpentry experience preferred along with basic maintenance and troubleshooting skills. Purpose of Your Job Position: The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the Plant Operations Director with the maintenance and repair program involving buildings and grounds, and to coordinate maintenance and repair activities with other departments in accordance with federal, state, local standards, guidelines, regulations, and Solaris HealthCare’s established policies and procedures. Job Functions: The essential functions include coordinating repair work, performing maintenance tasks, and supporting the Plant Operations Director in maintaining facility standards. Working Conditions: Works in areas throughout Solaris HealthCare. Experiences disagreeable conditions including odor and infection. Moves frequently during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Works closely with Plant Operations Director, Maintenance, Laundry, Housekeeping, residents, families, and other staff. Faces hostile or emotionally upset residents, family members, etc. Communicates with medical staff, nursing services, and other department directors. Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and temporarily in other positions when necessary. Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post‑disaster). Attends and participates in continuing educational programs. Exposes to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including TB, AIDS, and Hepatitis B. May handle hazardous chemicals. Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of the TELS Maintenance Program a plus. Experience: Experience in the healthcare industry a plus. Nursing home experience preferred. Basic plumbing and electrical experience preferred. Specific Requirements: Must be able to read, speak and understand the English language. Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to residents’ age‑related needs, and be a supportive team member. Must deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public. Must possess leadership ability and willingness to supervise and work harmoniously with other personnel. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, and handle residents at various maturity levels. Must seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing activities, and relate resident information. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others at work. Physical and Sensory Requirements: Must move frequently throughout the workday. Must speak and write English understandably and cope with mental/emotional stress. Must have sight/hearing or use prosthetics to meet job requirements. Must function independently, be flexible, have personal integrity, and work effectively with residents, personnel, and agencies. Must meet general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination. Must work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people. Must be able to lift, push, pull, move, or carry a minimum of 50 pounds to a height of 5 feet and a distance of 50 feet; occasionally lift 100 pounds.
