Compliance Specialist II
McLane Company
Ready to take the next step in your compliance career? As a Compliance Specialist II at McLane Company, you’ll play a key role in supporting regulatory compliance across a complex, nationwide operation. In this role, you’ll go beyond foundational responsibilities—analyzing regulatory changes, recommending process improvements, and partnering with cross‑functional teams to ensure our business adapts effectively to evolving requirements. If you’re detail‑oriented, proactive, and comfortable working with greater independence, this is your opportunity to expand your expertise and make a meaningful impact in a dynamic compliance environment. This is an on‑site position in Temple, TX. Candidates are expected to reside within a 50‑mile radius of the office. What You’ll Do: Monitor and analyze state and local legislation, regulations, and ordinances impacting regulated products, and evaluate their impact on operations. Recommend updates to processes and system controls to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving regulatory requirements. Partner with Sales, Merchandising, and internal teams to communicate regulatory changes and implement product distribution restrictions where needed. Independently prepare and process license applications, renewals, and supporting documentation through completion. Generate and interpret internal reports to support licensing and validate compliance processes. Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities and respond to inquiries regarding licensing and compliance requirements. Support regulatory reporting, including PACT Act filings and DBA/fictitious name applications. Conduct audits, maintain compliance trackers, and ensure accurate record‑keeping across compliance activities. Perform compliance reviews on customers to assess risk and ensure proper licensing. Assist in training Compliance Specialist I team members and contribute to department knowledge sharing. What We’re Looking For: Associate degree or some college preferred. Minimum of 2+ years of business experience, ideally in a regulated environment. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently with moderate supervision. Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret regulatory information. Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to recommend process improvements. This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job‑related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. Why Join Us? At McLane, compliance is more than a function—it’s a key driver of how we operate and grow. In this role, you’ll take on greater ownership while supporting a nationwide network and helping ensure our processes evolve alongside changing regulatory requirements. You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals who value your insight and initiative, in an environment where your contributions directly impact operations. If you’re looking to deepen your expertise, build confidence in decision‑making, and grow your career in compliance, this is the next step for you. Benefits You Can Count On: Generous benefits that start on your 60th day: medical, dental, and vision insurance, FSA/HSA and company‑paid life insurance. Earn vacation time, and sick leave accrual from day one and paid holidays after 90 days. 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan after 90 days. Additional benefits: pet insurance, parental leave, employee assistance programs, discount programs, tuition reimbursement program, and more!
