Experienced Seasonal Tax Reviewer
Location: Huntington, NY
Employment Type: Seasonal / Part-Time, with Potential for Future Full-Time Employment
Work Arrangement: On-site or Possible Hybrid
Position Overview
Established CPA firm seeking an experienced Tax Reviewer for the upcoming tax season, with the potential to transition into a permanent, full-time position.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience reviewing individual and business tax returns, strong technical tax knowledge, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Lacerte tax preparation software is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Review individual and business tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal and state tax laws, including Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 1041.
- Perform detailed tax return reviews using Lacerte tax software.
- Review tax calculations, supporting documentation, and workpapers.
- Identify potential tax issues and recommend appropriate adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations and professional standards.
- Communicate review comments and provide guidance to tax preparers as needed.
- Manage multiple returns and meet deadlines during the busy tax season.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in Lacerte tax software — REQUIRED.
- Significant experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns in a public accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax regulations.
- Extensive experience with pass-through entities, including partnerships and S corporations.
- Ability to independently review complex tax returns with minimal supervision.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage tax season deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or Enrolled Agent designation.
- Experience reviewing complex individual and business tax returns involving multiple states.
