It is the spark that brings ideas together and the shared purpose that the team brings to everything they do.Schenkel Shultz's portfolio spans civic, educational, aviation, cultural and commercial work throughout Florida and the southeast, with international projects in Puerto Rico, Germany, and Japan.We are seeking a Senior Project Architect / Project Manager who is strategic, highly organized, and technically proficient, with a strong ability to build and lead productive relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors. This role requires a professional who takes ownership of projects from initial kickoff through construction administration, guiding the design team to deliver work aligned with the Owner's scope, schedule, budget, and design vision.In this role, you will lead and actively participate in all phases of design and documentation, while serving as the primary point of contact for project communication and coordination. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and confident in decision-making, with a passion for thoughtful design, quality documentation, and collaborative leadership. This position offers significant responsibility, professional trust, and the opportunity to work on meaningful, complex projects within a supportive studio environment.Project & Team LeadershipTake full ownership of projects from schematic design through construction administration, with support from internal team members based on project needsLead and coordinate architects, consultants, and contractors to maintain project goals and design intentServe as the primary client contact, managing communication, expectations, and key decisionsDesign & DocumentationLead and actively participate in SD, DD, and CD phases using RevitProduce and oversee high-quality, coordinated construction documents consistent with firm standardsCommunicate design ideas through Revit (required); SketchUp, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite preferredTechnical CoordinationCoordinate major building systems with engineering consultantsApply working knowledge of building codes, building systems, and construction methods to minimize project riskResearch materials and products and coordinate specifications in collaboration with the firm's specifications writerConstruction Administration (Leading and/or Supporting as needed)Efficiently process project documentation throughout constructionAdminister contract documents and oversee the project ensuring that the construction team adheres to the design intent in the documentsManage exposure to potential financial and professional liabilitiesRepresent the firm in a professional manner, while maintaining our core values with clients, consultants and contractorsReview & markup RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, samples, product data, testing and specialty engineering to ensure material quality and specifications are being upheldTrack progression of project and review contractor's compliance with the construction scheduleRegular site visits, which include attending Owner/ Architect/Contractor meetings and creation and distribution of field reports of observationsManage project closeout, including construction punch list, O&M manuals, warranties and record documentsMentorship & CollaborationMentor and collaborate with internal team membersContribute to a positive, organized, and proactive studio cultureRequired10+ years of experience in an architectural officeExperience in one or more of the following project types is preferred: Education, Aviation, Cultural (Performing Arts Centers), Commercial, Civic or Sports facilitiesAccommodating individual with a sense of urgency to multi-task on multiple projects and assignmentsComfortable working collaboratively while also managing responsibilities independentlyStrong graphic and technical skills with the ability to translate design concepts into coordinated construction documents, including understanding of drawing standards and code complianceExcellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsProficient in: Revit, MS Office, Outlook & ProcoreRegular travel to projects sites is requiredPreferred (nice to have but not a must)Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited programFlorida architectural licensure preferred; candidates pursuing licensure or reciprocity will be consideredProficient in: SketchUp, Bluebeam, Adobe SuiteCompensation$100,000–$140,000 annually, based on years of experience, level of expertise, and credentials.
