Criminal Investigator (Special Agent)

Overview This position is located at Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General, OIG, Office of Investigation. As a Criminal Investigator (Special Agent), you will be responsible for audits, investigations, fraud control, and designated security services to all HUD programs and operations. Qualifications Age Restriction: Applicant must be younger than 37 on the day preceding their 37th birthday, unless they are Preference‑eligible veterans or 37+ with prior law enforcement service under a special retirement plan. Medical Requirements: Must pass a pre‑appointment physical exam, meet physical requirements for duties that involve moderate to arduous exertion, firearms use, inclement weather, manual dexterity, vision and hearing, and emotional/mental stability. Physical conditions that create a hazard to self or others are disqualifying.

Specialized experience equivalent to

GS‑12

(one year). Includes coordinating multi‑agent cases involving multiple subjects; providing technical assistance, training, and consultation for criminal investigations, inspections, and techniques; coordinating investigations and strategies; utilizing various investigative techniques to establish interrelationships of facts or evidence. Additional experience: either investigating sensitive, controversial subjects or jurisdictional problems; or performing criminal or administrative misconduct investigations involving officers or employees at all levels, including senior managers. GS‑12 Specialized experience equivalent to GS‑11 (one year).
