Surface Water Plant Manager The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Surface Water Plant Manager in the Utilities Department. Benefits At-A-Glance Starting salary $87,485 – $100,607 depending on qualifications and experience City-subsidized Medical and Dental Insurance with a variety of plan options City-paid Basic Life Insurance at 1x annual salary and Long-term Disability Voluntary Vision, Supplemental Life Coverage (for you and your family), Aflac indemnity plans such as Accident, Cancer, Hospitalization and Critical Illness, Short Term Disability, and pre-paid legal benefits through Legal Shield 9 paid holidays and up to 3 floating holidays Generous vacation package with accruals starting day 1 Paid sick leave Paid Parental Leave Robust pension plan with TMRS includes your 7% contribution with 2:1 match by the City Option to contribute to a Deferred Compensation (457b) plan Longevity pay for each month of service after first 13 months of employment On-site Wellness facilities and programming (mind, body spirit & financial preparedness) Access to mental health benefits and resources, including a robust Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Responsibilities Be responsible for operations, repair, and maintenance of the City’s SWTP Recruit, hire, onboard, and manage assigned City staff’s training and professional development Assign work priorities and standards for City staff and contractors to accomplish repair and preventive maintenance programs within designated service levels Ensure division compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and procedures Ensure compliance with industry standard safety requirements Assist in preparations of the annual surface water treatment operations and maintenance budget by providing needed data and expertise for achieving key performance indicators Manage division operations and maintenance budget during the current fiscal year in compliance with City’s policies and procedures Develop, manage, and renew surface water treatment service and supply contracts; track progress to ensure contract compliance; review and approve contract invoices, compare expenditures to available budget, and resolve issues Manage operations, preventative maintenance, and repairs of assigned vehicles, heavy equipment, and other assigned rolling stock in collaboration with Fleet Services Inventory control for all surface water division parts, tools and equipment, including computers, tablets, phones, software, security devices, and other related items Formal Education Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field, from an accredited school or university (preferred) High school Diploma or GED (required) More than 5 years of direct supervisory experience in surface water production operations may substitute for a degree Relatable Work Experience Minimum of 5 years of progressive supervisory experience related to surface water treatment facility operations (required) Municipal experience (plus) Training (License and/or Certification) Current TCEQ Class A Water Operator license (required) Valid Texas Class "C" Driver’s License (required) #J-18808-Ljbffr
