Registered Nurse - Inpatient Psychiatry Unit

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

2 eight-hour shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM and 2 twelve-hour shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM, totaling 40 hours a week. Holidays and every other weekend are expected.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will work on a 25-bed acute inpatient psychiatric unit. Responsibilities include overseeing patient care and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive services to individuals facing acute psychiatric challenges, such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, suicidal tendencies, and dual diagnoses.

Responsibilities

• Charge nurse duties, overseeing the admission process and general patient management.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses throughout the shift.
• Participate in patient rounds, assessments, and vital sign checks.
• Facilitate group therapy and educational sessions for patients.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage patient behaviors and ensure a safe environment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current and valid Registered Nurse license.
• BLS certification is required.
• Experience in psychiatric nursing preferred.
