Position Details Position Title: Police Officer College/Division: President's Office Department: 500300-POLICE DEPARTMENT NMSU Location: Las Cruces Target Hourly/Salary Rate: 23.58 Appointment Full-time Equivalency: 1.0 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Standard Work Schedule: Shift: Other Shift; If Not a Standard Work Schedule: Public Safety - 24/7 Job Duties and Responsibilities Take police reports and conduct other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education: Associate's degree (any field). Required Experience: No previous work experience required. Equivalency: 2 years' experience as a certified Police Officer; or 2 years' experience allowing for a combination of education (15 related credits equivalent to 6 months experience), and/or military service (honorably discharged), and/or certified PO experience. Required Certification/License: None specified. Preferred Qualifications: Lateral Commissioned Officer with a minimum of two years of commissioned experience in law enforcement. Applicant must be in good standing or have recently left in good standing with their department. Working Conditions and Physical Effort Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Physical Effort: Considerable physical activity. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job. Lifting Requirements: Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
