Coding Educator

At Emory HealthcareJob DescriptionThe responsibilities are: assessment of medical record documentation and appropriate capture of services through quality coding.The primary focus of this position will be to assess medical record documentation and educate providers and coders.This would include communication to providers, coders and section leaders on performance and coding and regulatory updates. This position reports to Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle Development.Minimum QualificationsCollege Degree and three (3) years of coding experience or at least five (5) years of coding experience required. Must have a current CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT and an additional specialty certification. CPMA, CEMC, CPCI are preferred but not necessary.Multi-specialty coding experience, academic medical center experience and teaching/instructing experience preferred. Strong CPT4, HCPCS, and ICD10-CM coding skills. Strong knowledge of CMS rules and guidelines and ability to access, research and interpret other payer rules and guidelines. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (MediumMax 25lbs): up to 25 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 25 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks.
