Snapshot / Role Overview We're seeking a Senior HVAC/Plumbing Estimator in Canton, OH to lead estimates from first drawing review through bid day for a commercial and industrial mechanical contractor. Impact - Win profitable HVAC and plumbing work with accurate, competitive bids. - Protect margin by catching scope gaps, risk, and value engineering options before bid day. - Give project managers a clean handoff with budgets they can build to. - Raise department accuracy by maintaining cost history and mentoring junior estimators. Responsibilities - Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial HVAC and plumbing projects. - Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope documents. - Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing analysis, and enter labor, material, and equipment costs into estimating software. - Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids. - Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options. - Lead bid reviews and support bid strategy decisions. - Attend pre-bid meetings and scope reviews, and assist with proposals and bid submissions. - Hand off awarded projects to project management and support budgeting. - Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and benchmarks. - Track market trends, labor rates, material costs, and subcontractor performance. - Mentor junior estimators and improve estimating processes. Compensation and Logistics Competitive salary depending on experience. Full-time, on-site in Canton, OH. Office-based with jobsite visits and preconstruction meetings. Must-Haves: - 4+ years of construction estimating with a focus on HVAC and plumbing. - Experience estimating medium to large or complex commercial or industrial projects. - Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. - Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Trimble AutoBid, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or Bluebeam. - Advanced Excel and cost analysis skills. - High school diploma or GED. Nice-to-Haves: - Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. - Design-build or alternative delivery experience. - Experience with BIM, CAD, Procore, Sage, or Primavera. - Experience mentoring junior estimators.
