Our staff members are proud to live and work in this area, and are committed to providing quality healthcare to our community. \n JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Nursing manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who has responsibility for the supervision of patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations. This position supervises a work group to ensure that a high quality, cost-effective patient and family centered care is provided in support of the hospital's strategic plan, and the function's goals and objectives. \n This position works collaboratively with functional leadership and is responsible for the oversight of daily operations of the assigned department including off shift and weekend supervision of nursing and non-licensed staff. This position manages resources, quality improvement, payroll, creating and maintaining colleague schedules and monitors patient throughput to facilitate efficient clinical operations. In addition, this position is responsible for a safe and therapeutic unit environment, which includes working in the department as staff RN to assist as needed. \n This position supports leadership in ensuring standards of excellence and professional development are fostered and met. This position also participates in and may lead Performance Improvement work in their assigned department. \n Qualifications\n \n \n Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Master’s Degree preferred. \n Two (2) years of acute care RN experience required, One year supervisory experience preferred \n \n Licensure, Certification, Registration: \n \n Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license \n Basic Life Support (BLS) certification \n Ability to obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire. \n Dysrhythmia certification within 3 months of hire. \n Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications. \n \n Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements \n \n Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing and healthcare administration \n • Demonstrated ability to make sound clinical assessments and institute safe and effective care within the structure of a collaborative health team. \n • Considerable knowledge of requirements by federal, state or regulatory bodies. \n • Demonstrates knowledge of effective workforce utilization. \n • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. \n • Proven ability to lead courageous conversations, hold colleague(s) accountable and manage change and conflict. \n • Knowledge of all relevant policies and procedures. \n • Knowledge of high reliability organizations (HRO) and LEAN process improvement strategies. \n • Demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to lifelong learning as a methodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery of patient care and services. \n • Ability to manage multiple priorities and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. \n • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. \n • Demonstrates effective leadership through collaborative partnerships in accordance with Nursing Professional Practice model. \n • Strong ability to problem solve and make decisions in a fast-paced environment and in emergency situations. \n • Fosters an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and maximized to achieve the mission and vision of the organization. \n • Proficient in Microsoft Office. \n • Ensures the presence of a safe and healthful work environment, promoting self-care and empowerment. \n \n We take great care of careers. \n With locations around the state, Hartford HealthCare offers exciting opportunities for career development and growth.
