Part-Time Faculty PoolThis is a Part-Time Faculty Pool for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on departmental needs. Should a review of your application result in the intent to pursue your candidacy, you will be contacted by phone or email for an interview. In order to maintain SACSCOC compliance, it is required you upload a copy of your transcripts for ALL degrees conferred.Your application status will be updated throughout the review process. If your application is still in progress, your application has not been reviewed by the hiring department.This is a security sensitive position and requires a criminal history and/or motor vehicle records check.SummaryOur faculty enjoy an atmosphere of collegiality and mutual respect that promotes outstanding teaching and fosters active intellectual and creative engagement.Instruct and supervise a diverse population of students in the classroom at various times and locationsPossess a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellenceDemonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oralPrepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institutionMaintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilizes a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resourcesAssist in the recruitment and retention of studentsAdvise students in academic matters or refers students to appropriate resourcesAssess students' performance through a range of measurement activities and keeps them informed of their progress in a timely mannerEngage students face-to-face and through electronic communicationsUtilize technology to facilitate learning and to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with othersAssist in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectivesBuild positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the communitySubmit timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions and departmentsProvide recommendations to the Instructional Dean, Department Chair, and appropriate college committees regarding curriculum, instruction and division operationsExhibit a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activitiesAdhere to Alvin College's policies and proceduresAttend institutional meetings as requiredOther duties as assignedThe incumbent typically works in a classroom environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of a classroom. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.QualificationsTo teach CRIJ, CJLE, CJCE (transfer):Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice from a regionally accredited college / universityTo teach CJSA:Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from a regionally accredited college / university OR Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice from a regionally accredited college / universityThree (3) years of non-teaching (industry) work experience in Criminal JusticeBilingual English/SpanishTo teach CRIJ, CJLE, CJCE (transfer):Master's degree in Criminal Justice from a regionally accredited college / university
