Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit role requiring 2 years of PCU/telemetry experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) within a hospital setting

Admits patients from CICU, MSICU, acute care floors, and the ED

Patient population includes post-op CABG, thoracic, and vascular surgery cases, respiratory failure (non-ventilated), cardiac arrhythmias, DKA, GI bleed, trauma, CVA, seizures, CIWA, metabolic disorders, renal failure, GI disorders, hypertensive emergency, sepsis, and neuro disorders

Patient ratio of 1:3-4 on a 32-bed unit with an average daily census of 21

Uses Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, AirVo, BiPap, and CPAP

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00

Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified

Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed

No call requirements

Requirements

Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

Minimum 2 years of recent experience required

Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Two supervisory references (Manager level or above) highly preferred

Additional Information

Navy blue scrubs required

Max RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized at time of submission

No RTO can be requested during orientation week or after offer/onsite

Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment: one holiday worked if 1-2 fall during the contract, two holidays worked if 3 fall during the contract

Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day

First-time travelers are accepted

Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate

Returning staff who were previously perm/per diem/internal must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler

Travelers who cancel or are not approved to return must complete one assignment outside the health system before reapplying
