Job Description

The Cincinnati VA Medical Center (CVAMC) is a two-division campus located in Cincinnati, OH and Fort Thomas, KY serving 15 counties in Southwest OH, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana with 6 Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Bellevue, KY; Florence, KY; Lawrenceburg, IN; Hamilton, OH; Clermont County, OH, and Georgetown, OH. The CVAMC also supports two off main campus locations in the Cincinnati area via an Eye Center and Mental Health Outreach Community Division. The major duties of the Registered Nurse (Emergency Department) include, but are not limited to:

• Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care.
• Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
• Provides urgent and emergent care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical, surgical, and psychiatric conditions. Nursing care ranges from basic nursing care to stabilization, resuscitation, and life support measures.
• Practices roles of direct care provider, educator, administrator, researcher, consultant, leader, and advocate.
• Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement.
• Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care.
• Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals.
• Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations.
• Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing care.
• Assesses the patient by collecting pertinent data or information, including the triage of patients based on the five-level triage system to prioritize patients that require more immediate care.
• Identifies expected outcomes to develop a collaborative and individualized plan for each patient and evaluates the progress toward achieving the expected goal and outcomes and adjusts the plan as necessary.

Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards

Work Schedule: Full-time; six 12-hour shifts (7:30 pm to 8:00 am) and one 8-hour shift (11:30 pm to 8:00 am) each pay period, with rotating weekends and holidays.
