Direct Support Professional for IDD

Position Title Human Services Prog Spprt Tech - Contributing Position Summary The Direct Support Professional for IDD position is located at the Carolina Living and Learning Center (CLLC), just north of Pittsboro and next door to Chatham Park. The center serves 15 autistic adults with higher support needs who live in two homes on a 79‑acre campus with a barn, potting shed, and greenhouse to provide year‑round activities. The role involves collaborating with a dedicated staff team to serve this vulnerable population and providing training in self‑help, communication, social and leisure skills, vocational skills, behavioral support and independence. Benefits This position is eligible for a sign‑on bonus of $1,200 to be paid in two installments: $600 within 30 days of hire date. $600 12 months after hire date. A newly hired permanent full‑time or permanent part‑time employee is eligible for a sign‑on bonus (prorated for employees working >20 hours and Responsibilities Work as a direct‑care staff member who collaborates with adults with autism in the residential/vocational facility and their families to provide training in self‑help, communication, social and leisure skills, vocational skills, behavioral support and independence. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Qualifications Experience with autism and/or other developmental disabilities. Experience with disabilities in adults. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Mandatory employee – Adverse Weather; Communicable Disease. Special Physical and Mental Requirements This position requires the ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and the ability to assist with the upkeep of the houses, gardens, and grounds, with or without accommodation. Position and Schedule Requirements Location: Carolina Living and Learning Center. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, overtime occasionally, patient‑care involved, valid North Carolina driver’s license required, weekend work. 40 hours per week, Tuesday–Saturday 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Campus Security Authority Responsibilities Not Applicable.
