The technician reports directly to the superintendent, leads cable installation crews by example, and performs hands-on work with CAT5 and CAT6 cabling, including basket tray wiring, pulling CAT6 copper cable, certifying patch connections, and building out IDF rooms in large commercial construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cable installation crews on the TXE project in El Paso, serving as a working foreman and setting a high standard for quality and productivity.
  • Report directly to the superintendent and communicate project status, crew performance, and any field issues in a clear and timely manner.
  • Install and route CAT5 and CAT6 cabling, including pulling CAT6 copper cable through basket trays and other pathways in large commercial facilities.
  • Wire and organize basket trays to ensure clean, efficient, and safe cable management throughout the project site.
  • Build out IDF rooms, including cable routing, termination, labeling, and preparation for certification and testing.
  • Perform patch certification and cable testing to verify performance, reliability, and adherence to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Drive daily work plans for the crew, assign tasks, and ensure that all team members understand and follow project requirements and timelines.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety while working around active rail and industrial areas, ensuring all crew members follow PPE and safety protocols.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment, meeting project deadlines and adapting to changing field conditions.
  • Collaborate with a skilled telecom team and other trades on site to coordinate work, resolve issues, and support successful project delivery.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive experience in large commercial construction environments, particularly with low voltage cabling and infrastructure.
  • Hands-on expertise with CAT5 and CAT6 cabling, including pulling CAT6 copper cable and routing through basket trays.
  • Proven experience running jobs, leading crews, or both, with the ability to act as a working foreman on active projects.

  • Comfort working in and around active rail and industrial areas, with attention to safety and site protocols.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, production-driven settings while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Interest in or exposure to advanced fiber technologies and large-scale fiber systems.
  • Potential to grow into lead splicer, quality assurance, or field engineering roles over time.

Why Work Here?

You join a team with a stable, long-term project pipeline that provides a consistent workload and reliable employment. You gain hands-on exposure to advanced fiber technologies and large-scale, high-strand-count fiber systems, enhancing your technical expertise.
