Lieutenant Supervisor/Paramedic (FT)
POSITION SUMMARY
• Coordinates and is responsible for general training of the department medics.
• Responsibilities include the quality of training for patient care in both pre-hospital and hospital phases of EMS.
• Coordinates and supervises the training of shift personnel.
• Other responsibilities include tracking expiration dates of certifications and licenses, personnel management, assigned evaluations, quality assurance and shift development.
• Perform special assignments given by the Shift Captain or Director.
• Normal responsibilities of a Paramedic.
• Will be considered first as a relief supervisor in the absence of the Captain and/or Lieutenant.
OVERVIEW
• The evaluation is to assure individual performance, departmental goals and organizational goals are aligned. It is designed to support communication between the manager and the employee. Employee perception of their own performance is very important. To maximize the benefit of this process, both the manager and the employee participate in the evaluation process.
QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to use good body mechanics while performing daily job functions and ability to follow specific OSHA guidelines
• Ability to maintain attendance to meet standard job practices
B. Education
• High School diploma or GED
• Graduate of approved Paramedic program and obtain State Certification
C. Licensure
• Current Georgia Paramedic license
• BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification
• Current GA Driver's License
• Should hold instructor status in courses related to emergency care.
• Should obtain Instructor Potential status in ACLS and PALS within one (1) year of promotion and attend the nearest next available instructor class
D. Experience
• 2 years as a Paramedic

• Sedentary: Exert up to 10 lb. of force occasionally and/or a minute amount frequently - 1-24%

• Medium: Exert 20 – 50 lb. of force occasionally and/or up to 15 lb. of force frequently - 25-49%
• Heavy: Exert 50 – 100 lb. of force occasionally and/or up to 30 lb. of force frequently - 50-74%
• Very Heavy: Exceed 100 lb. of force occasionally and/or 50 lb. frequently - 50-74%

• Clinical expertise in area of responsibility.
• Maintain current knowledge in emergency care.
• Strong knowledge of leadership principles and practices, and ability for practical application of the same and instructional techniques.
• Knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing pre-hospital emergency care operations and training requirements of each level of EMS.
• Strong knowledge of training available.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

• Maintain good relations with other hospital departments.
• Keep all vehicles stocked and in working order.
• Respond immediately to all emergency calls as received.
• Keep equipment ready for use at all times.
• Deliver prompt, effective care to all patients.
• Ensure safety to self, passengers and patients.
• Maintain proper communications and continuing care with 911 and Medical Control during transport.
• Maintain proper records of all ambulance calls.
• Safely evaluate, treat, extricate and transport patients as needed and indicated.
• Communicate pertinent information and carry out orders of the physician.
• Complete paperwork and file in the correct place.
• Report faulty or damaged equipment to supervisor.
• Uphold all policies and procedures of the department and the entire hospital.
• Keeps proper records of training for all medics.
• Instructs personnel as needed to insure all personnel maintains their certifications.
• Assists in teaching ACLS, PALS and BLS at hospital
