Our organization is excited to announce a position for a Regional Medical Director of Perinatal Care/Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) at our facilities located in Lincoln, Metropolitan, and Harlem.

Reporting to the Chairperson of the Department, the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist will spearhead our vibrant perinatal and high-risk obstetrics teams across the Harlem, Lincoln, and Metropolitan locations. This role involves delivering top-notch, evidence-based, patient-focused care to expectant mothers facing intricate medical, surgical, and obstetric challenges. Additionally, the position encompasses educational responsibilities, participation in hospital-wide quality initiatives, and administrative leadership of the outpatient antepartum service.

This opportunity allows for collaboration within a multidisciplinary environment that includes general obstetrics, midwifery, neonatology, anesthesiology, social work, and care coordination teams. Position Overview:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct both in-person and remote comprehensive consultations for high-risk and medically complex pregnant patients, addressing maternal and fetal complications at all three facilities.

  • Perform and interpret advanced obstetric ultrasounds, including Doppler studies and perinatal diagnostic procedures.

  • Collaborate with general obstetricians, midwives, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers to optimize outcomes for mothers and their babies.

  • Provide consultative or direct care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients requiring maternal-fetal medicine management.

Diagnostic and Procedural Responsibilities

  • Execute and interpret obstetric ultrasounds, including NT and Doppler studies.

  • Perform amniocentesis, cervical cerclage, external cephalic version, and antepartum fetal assessments (NST, BPP).

  • Maintain inpatient general obstetric privileges at Harlem, Lincoln, and Metropolitan.

Academic and Educational Duties

  • Supervise and instruct residents, students (medical, PA, NP, CNM, sonography), sonographers, and related personnel.

  • Engage in activities related to the residency program at Harlem, Lincoln, and Metropolitan, aligning with the learning objectives set by the program director, including lectures, simulations, and journal clubs.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to residents and medical students.

  • Support necessary research initiatives and PI/QA projects within the Department.

  • Participate in Grand Rounds and other departmental academic activities as requested.

Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division at Harlem, Lincoln, and Metropolitan, including antepartum testing areas and obstetric ultrasound services.

  • Engage in collaborative agreements with other medical centers for clinical services.

  • Participate in PI/QA projects and committees as required.

  • Contribute to RCA activities as requested.

  • Prepare annual reports on data, including outcomes, for the Department Chairs, to be included in the medical board's annual update, along with a divisional strategic plan.

  • Ensure acquisition and/or maintenance of AIUM credentialing for ultrasound units.

Expectations for the Regional Director

  • The primary work locations will be Harlem Hospital, Lincoln Hospital, and Metropolitan Hospital.

  • Provide clinical coverage, both in-person and remotely, for MFM services at the three facilities.

  • Offer remote coverage as needed for other facilities within the health system.

  • Be available for emergency coverage at other facilities in the health system.

  • Provide home on-call consult coverage during weeknights, weekends, and holidays for Harlem, Lincoln, and Metropolitan.

  • Work schedules will be determined by departmental leadership and the Regional Director based on facility needs and patient acuity.

  • This position is a full-time role, comprising approximately 0.4 FTE for administrative tasks and 0.6 FTE for clinical duties.
