Cook/CulinarianThis position is located at Marine Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) location in Highlands NJ. Applicants must live within commuting distance of Atlantic Highlands NJ.Mon-Fri 7:15am - 12:30 pm (schedule follows the School calendar with holidays and summers off)Now seeking an experienced and talented Cook/Culinarian to join our AMAZING Culinary Team at MAST. Enjoy a work/life balance, in this Mon-Fri daylight opportunity preparing our Chef Inspired menus in a busy and fast-paced K-12 Cafe setting.Job Summary:The cook will maintain accurate and complete records and paperwork. Must be a TEAM player, in order to accomplish the end result, whether it is in preparation, service or clean-up. The menu for the adult line is primarily planned by the cook every week, this position maintains organization and cleanliness of the kitchen.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Oversees the production of all meals and the overall cleanliness of the kitchen.Completes records, paperwork and other administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner.Ensures positive relationships with all customers and internal staff.Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:The job requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 6 months to 1 year general food service experience, preferably in a school district setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Must be a team player.Must be able to pass the state-required background check and fingerprinting to work in NJ schools.Must be Serve Safe Certified or be able to complete Serve-Safe Certification within one year of assuming the COOK roleKey Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of This Job Include the Following:Knowledge of or willingness to learn the New Jersey Child Nutrition ProgramBatch cookingPreparing the menu for the adult line is the planned by the cookHigh energy and a positive approachStrong organizational and detail skillsGood problem solving skillsAbility to work with minimal supervisionAbility to maintain confidentiality, sensitivity and professionalism at all times.Ability to adapt to changing prioritiesAbility to interact successfully with all levels of customers and Nutri-Serve employeesPhysical Demands & Working Conditions:Position is performed in an indoor kitchen environment. While some of the day may be spent in an office environment, the incumbent will generally be required to work in the kitchen to help out staff. Therefore, an ability to stand for extended periods; twist, bend, and move freely; and lift up to 30 pounds is required.While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. She/he is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold.
