This role exists to provide the medical expertise and oversight that makes safe, high-quality research possible at the site level. You'll evaluate participants for eligibility, direct the conduct of the trial, and ensure every decision reflects both scientific rigor and genuine care for the people who trust us with their participation. You'll also serve as a direct extension of the trusted patient-physician relationship that sits at the heart of our model.

What you'll do includes serving as the physician of record for clinical trials at an assigned site, evaluating participants for enrollment eligibility, ensuring every participant is treated with respect, providing clinical leadership and oversight to the on-site research team, maintaining a thorough working knowledge of each protocol, overseeing informed consent, adverse event documentation, and all required safety reporting, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, and collaborating effectively with sponsors, the IRB, and the Profound Research team.

Essential qualifications include an MD or DO with an active, unrestricted California medical license, prior experience conducting clinical research, proven ability to lead and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary clinical research team, strong communication skills, high ethical standards, professional integrity, and a genuine passion for direct patient interaction.

Preferred qualifications include established relationships with community physicians or patient populations in the San Diego area and familiarity with CTMS platforms and electronic data capture systems.

Physical requirements and work environment include prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking throughout the work environment, ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written forms, ability to read and interpret detailed materials, ability to navigate a clinical facility, ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with facility protocols, and travel between company sites, meetings, or partner locations.
