Project Manager V – Energy The Project Manager V position is an entry‑level role within KCI’s Energy Project Management career path, designed for individuals developing project management expertise. The role involves managing smaller‑scale projects with limited subconsultants and scope under the guidance of Senior Project Managers. Duties, Responsibilities & Other Coordinate technical staff, manage subconsultants, and liaise with vendors to ensure seamless project execution from initiation to completion. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and work within a diverse team. Develop project scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards. Maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk assessments; implement cost‑control measures and mitigation strategies. Serve as primary client contact, addressing concerns professionally. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to drive project success. Oversee quality assurance and safety processes, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards. Mentor less experienced staff and comply with all KCI policies, procedures, and safety rules. Negotiate contract terms, scope and fees with clients/subconsultants, and prepare contract documents. Report monthly proposals/business development results and project performance; track utilization targets. Participate in project opportunity evaluations, consultant selection, and proposal development. Be involved in at least one industry or community organization. Conduct site visits, gather data, prepare designs, and maintain current knowledge of state and municipal regulations. Training, Development, and Compliance Mentor less experienced staff. Comply with all KCI policies and procedures. Contribute to safety plans and ensure compliance with local regulations. Financial Management and Reporting Negotiate contract terms and fees, develop schedules, and manage contract development. Prepare monthly project completion reports and progress reports; advise Finance and Operations. Implement efficiency improvements to lower project cost. Business Development and Marketing Participate in project opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and qualification/experience statements. Identify new business opportunities, coordinate presentations, develop proposal teams, and promote KCI capabilities. Maintain project closeout documentation for marketing purposes. Project Execution and Technical Oversight Fully manage all required project management and technical deliverables in the contract scope. Compare field data to design plans and conduct site visits. Prepare deliveries for approval, interpret technical documents, and make design decisions. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (AEC Industry) and minimum of 2 years related professional experience, or 6 years of equivalent experience. Master’s Degree in a related field preferred. Participation in continuing education and professional development programs. Leadership potential to inspire and motivate project teams. Organizational and time‑management skills, prioritizing tasks. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Technical knowledge in the project’s specific field. Proficiency with project management software and tools, and maintaining comprehensive project plans. Understanding of industry standards and best practices related to project management, quality assurance, and safety protocols. Strong problem‑solving skills. Negotiation skills for managing contracts, scope changes, and stakeholder agreements. Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Required Successful completion of KCI PM Training and Contract Training for current employees, or ability to complete within six months for new hires.
