Sr. Cost Accountant Job Summary Under minimum supervision, the role includes daily management of new and existing financial systems, development of new systems, and maintenance, monitoring, and enhancement of existing systems. The position evaluates adequacy and implements improvements to align with FASB, IRS, and SEC regulations. Systems may include General Accounting, Credit, Cost Accounting, Treasury, Benefits, or Taxes. Essential Duties Develop, maintain, and monitor financial systems to ensure integrity in accordance with GAAP and Terumo BCT accounting procedures. Interpret external requirements and determine their applicability to the business. Analyze problems and implement solutions to ensure consistency and accuracy of financial systems; represent the department or company with internal and external customers to resolve non‑routine issues. Ensure inventories are properly valued per GAAP and assets are securely guarded. Provide training on transactions and procedures to internal customers as required. Compute and analyze manufacturing variances; review with manufacturing personnel to provide timely cost accounting information and analysis. Evaluate existing inventory and production procedures, identify weaknesses, and implement improvements. Assist in developing standard costs for product lines and monitor actual performance against standards. Collaborate cross‑functionally to prepare profit and loss plans for assigned product lines and develop cost estimates for new products. Analyze General Ledger or subsystem output for consistency and accuracy; resolve questionable items. Summarize accounting data for comparisons across periods and prepare explanatory comments. Assist department managers with budget preparation. Develop reporting capabilities and understanding of the multiple system applications within the Terumo BCT environment. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience sufficient to perform essential functions. Experience Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment. SAP experience preferred. Advanced degree or certification (MBA, CCE, CMA, CPA) beneficial. Skills Technical knowledge of accounting requirements and practices from FASB, IRS, and SEC. In‑depth knowledge of specialty areas such as Taxes, Treasury, Credit, Cost Accounting, or Benefits. Excellent analytical skills. Deep understanding of assigned systems. Proficiency with relevant PC software applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills. High quality, accurate work and strong organizational skills. Strong work habits and productivity. An equivalent competency level obtained through a variation of these qualifications may be considered. Compensation Target Pay Range: $75,500.00 to $94,300.00 (Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, and market data.)
