Maintenance Planner

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment and facilities. This role works closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and procurement teams to optimize resource utilization, minimize downtime, and improve asset performance. Key Responsibilities Develop detailed maintenance work plans, including labor, materials, tools, permits, and equipment requirements. Schedule preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and production efficiency. Review and prioritize maintenance work orders in collaboration with operations and maintenance leadership. Coordinate with maintenance technicians, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely completion of work. Maintain and update the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) with accurate equipment, work order, and maintenance history data. Identify and procure required spare parts, materials, and services to support scheduled maintenance activities. Monitor maintenance backlog and develop strategies to reduce overdue work orders. Analyze equipment performance and maintenance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce equipment failures and downtime. Track key maintenance performance indicators (KPIs), including schedule compliance, equipment availability, and maintenance costs. Support annual shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance projects. Qualifications Associate degree in Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant maintenance planning experience may be considered. 1‑3 years of maintenance planning, maintenance supervision, or industrial maintenance experience preferred. Skills and Competencies Experience using CMMS software such as MaintainX, SAP, Maximo, Infor EAM, or similar systems. MaintainX is preferred. Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or a related field. Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and reliability principles. Excellent organizational, scheduling, and project coordination skills. Ability to read technical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance procedures. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift 40 lbs consistently. Excellent hand/eye coordination. Ability to occasionally climb stairs, ladders, and access equipment locations. Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Ability to consistently wear personal protective equipment (PPE). Standing, walking, and bending consistently. Periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer. Demonstrated ability to effectively use power tools. Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment.
