Role Description The Economic Development Coordinator is a full-time, on-site position located in Madison, AL. This role is responsible for supporting and implementing economic development initiatives that attract, retain, and grow businesses within the city. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching and analyzing economic and market data, assisting with business recruitment and retention efforts, coordinating meetings and presentations with stakeholders, and preparing reports, proposals, and informational materials. The coordinator works closely with city departments, community organizations, and business leaders to facilitate development projects, promote Madison’s economic assets, and ensure alignment with city planning and policy objectives. The role also involves regular communication with the public, participation in community events, and providing administrative and project support to the economic development team. Qualifications Strong skills in Economic Development and Community Development to support business attraction, retention, and neighborhood growth initiatives. Knowledge of Public Administration principles and Urban Planning practices to align projects with city policies, zoning, and long-term strategic plans. Excellent Communication skills, including clear writing, public speaking, and stakeholder engagement across diverse audiences. Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field; relevant professional experience may be considered. Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and use office and presentation software effectively. Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with city staff, community partners, and business stakeholders in a professional, inclusive manner.
