Station: Apple Valley News Now / KVEW-TV Pay Range: $20–$27 per hour Apple Valley News Now, the local ABC affiliate serving Washington’s Yakima/Tri-Cities region, is seeking an audience-focused News Anchor/MMJ. This role combines anchoring local newscasts with reporting original stories for television, streaming, web and social media. The ideal candidate is a credible on-air communicator, strong storyteller and curious local journalist who can cover breaking news, develop meaningful community stories and adapt content for audiences on every platform. Responsibilities News Anchor/MMJ Location: Kennewick, Washington Station: Apple Valley News Now / KVEW-TV Pay Range: $20–$27 per hour Apple Valley News Now, the local ABC affiliate serving Washington’s Yakima/Tri-Cities region, is seeking an audience-focused News Anchor/MMJ. This role combines anchoring local newscasts with reporting original stories for television, streaming, web and social media. The ideal candidate is a credible on-air communicator, strong storyteller and curious local journalist who can cover breaking news, develop meaningful community stories and adapt content for audiences on every platform. Anchor newscasts, live reports, breaking-news coverage and news briefs. Research, pitch, shoot, write, edit and present original local stories. Produce timely content for broadcast, digital, streaming and social platforms, including vertical video and live updates. Develop enterprise stories that reflect the people and issues shaping the Yakima/Tri-Cities community. Maintain high standards for accuracy, fairness, ethics and legal compliance. Collaborate with producers, digital staff and newsroom leadership on story presentation. Build community relationships and engage with audiences online and in person. Assist with newscast production and other newsroom responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Four or more years of experience as a reporter, multimedia journalist and/or anchor. Demonstrated studio anchoring, field reporting and live-shot experience. Strong broadcast, digital and AP Style writing skills. Ability to create compelling stories using video, sound, text and social-first formats. Excellent editorial judgment, organization and ability to meet daily deadlines. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Experience with Inception and Adobe is preferred but not required. Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
