Social Media Marketing Intern

Position Title: Social Media Marketing InternReports To: Director of MarketingDepartment: MarketingLocation: HeadquartersFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPosition Type: Part-Time Seasonal Position Summary High Country Outfitters is seeking a creative, organized, and outgoing Social Media Marketing Intern to support the Marketing team in bringing the High Country brand and outdoor retail experience to life across social media. The intern will create and edit short-form photo and video content and follow High Country’s social media strategy to highlight products, people, and events while gaining hands-on experience in retail marketing and brand storytelling. This part-time seasonal role generally requires 5-10 hours per week, primarily weekdays, with regular weekend availability for brand storytelling and occasional travel to stores, our headquarters, and events. Key Responsibilities Social Media Content Creation Create engaging, on‑brand photo and video content for High Country Outfitters' social media channels in accordance with the weekly post plan and platform requirements. Deliver content that reflects the High Country lifestyle, showcases the customer experience, and supports brand awareness and engagement. Content Coordination & Store Collaboration Coordinate with store associates, managers, and the Marketing team to identify content opportunities and arrange employee participation as needed. Keep content capture organized and minimally disruptive to store operations and customer service. Content Editing & Publishing Edit photo and video content using an iPhone and basic editing tools, and prepare approved assets for posting. Publish approved content accurately and on schedule after supervisor review to maintain a consistent and professional brand presence. Content Planning & Trend Awareness Stay current on social media trends, formats, audio, and platform best practices, and contribute relevant ideas to the content calendar. Apply trends selectively so content remains timely while aligned with High Country's brand, audience, and business priorities. Retail Product & Event Content Capture Capture content featuring new arrivals, seasonal merchandise, store experiences, community activations, and outdoor events. Connect social storytelling to what customers can discover in stores and online to support product awareness and traffic. Community Engagement & Brand Support Assist with monitoring comments, mentions, tagged content, and user-generated content opportunities, escalating customer questions or concerns to the appropriate team member. Support timely, consistent engagement that protects the customer experience and brand reputation. Content Organization & Performance Support Organize approved photos and videos for future use and assist with tracking basic post performance metrics and identifying high‑performing content. Help maintain a reusable content library and provide insight that can improve future social content. Minimum Qualifications Experience creating photo and video content using an iPhone is required. Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and current social media trends and formats. Basic photo and video editing experience and comfort learning new content creation tools. Positive attitude and ability to collaborate effectively with store teams and the Marketing team. Comfortable working both behind and in front of the camera, with clear written and verbal communication skills. Ability to take direction, manage time, meet deadlines, and work independently when needed. Physical Demands & Work Environment Work is performed in corporate or remote settings, retail stores, outdoor locations, and occasional events. The role requires the ability to move throughout stores and outdoor environments while capturing content and to occasionally lift or carry equipment or materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Regular weekend availability may be required for Instagram and Facebook Stories, with occasional travel to weekend events and High Country's corporate office for marketing meetings and content capture.
