Senior Quality Engineer

Our client designs and manufactures patented intermodal containers, deployable platforms, and integrated Systems Within Systems™ solutions for defense, aerospace, energy, and high-tech applications. The Senior Quality Engineer ensures products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and applicable military and industry standards throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. This hands-on role works closely with Engineering, Program Management, and manufacturing partners to oversee quality, conduct inspections and testing, resolve non-conformances, and support continuous improvement efforts. Regular travel to manufacturing facilities is required. Key Responsibilities: Quality & Manufacturing Oversight Ensure products conform to engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and technical data packages. Verify weld quality, materials, dimensional tolerances, hardware, coatings, and corrosion protection. Review material certifications and maintain traceability requirements. Audit calibration programs for inspection and test equipment. Support on-site quality activities and drive resolution of manufacturing issues. Develop and execute inspection plans, test procedures, and acceptance criteria. Perform and oversee functional, system-level, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). Verify performance of integrated electrical, HVAC, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Conduct weatherproofing, structural, and dimensional inspections. Analyze test data and lead corrective actions for failures and field issues. Support weld inspections, NDT activities, and AS9102 First Article Inspections as required. Non-Conformance & Corrective Action Manage NCR, CAPA, and quality issue tracking systems. Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, and other quality methodologies. Implement and verify corrective and preventive actions through closure. Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement Maintain and improve ISO 9001-compliant Quality Management Systems (QMS). Conduct internal audits and support customer/external audits. Implement SPC and data-driven process improvement initiatives. Develop quality plans, inspection procedures, and work instructions. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Engineering, PMO, Supply Chain, and manufacturing teams to ensure quality objectives are achieved. Participate in design reviews, new product introductions, and production readiness activities. Serve as the primary quality representative for escalations and supplier quality issues. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of manufacturing quality engineering experience. Strong knowledge of SPC, FMEA, CAPA, root cause analysis, and GD&T. Experience developing and executing product verification and test plans. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and audit processes.
