Teacher of the Visually Impaired (BVI-TVI) – School-Based
Williamstown, Kentucky | Full-Time | September–May/June | On-Site
TheraPeds Partners is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), also referred to as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments, for a full-time, school-based opportunity in Williamstown, Kentucky.

Position Details- Full-time: Approximately 37.5 hours per week
- Assignment length: Approximately, September 2026 through May/June 2027
- Grades: Pre-Kindergarten through Highschool
- Location: Williamstown, Kentucky
- Setting: On-site, in-person
- Pay: $65–$75+/hour, based on experience and employment arrangement
- Guaranteed hours, including designated documentation, administrative, and planning time
- Educational services, case management, consultation, and evaluations
- Support from both the school district and TheraPeds Partners
As a school-based Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you'll provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments while collaborating closely with educators, families, therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing direct and consultative educational services to students who are blind or visually impaired
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Conducting educational and vision-related assessments within the scope of the TVI role
- Evaluating student performance and monitoring progress toward IEP goals
- Providing specialized instruction based on each student's individual needs
- Supporting student access to curriculum, instructional materials, technology, and the educational environment
- Addressing skills related to the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), as appropriate to individual student needs
- Adapting instructional strategies and materials to support students with varying levels of vision and learning needs
- Providing case management services, as assigned
- Completing timely and accurate documentation, reports, progress monitoring, and educational records
- Participating in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings
- Collaborating with parents, teachers, special education staff, therapists, orientation and mobility specialists, and other school professionals
- Providing guidance and support to classroom staff regarding instructional strategies and accommodations for students with visual impairments
- Supporting students in developing independence, self-advocacy, access, and transition-related skills
- Creating a welcoming, safe, and productive learning environment that supports student participation and independence
Requirements
What We're Looking For- Bachelor's or Master's degree, or higher, in Special Education or a related field
- Current or eligible California Education Specialist Instruction Credential – Visual Impairments
- Meets Kentucky's applicable Basic Skills Requirement
- Experience working with children or young adults who are blind or visually impaired
- School-based experience preferred
- Experience supporting high school and/or transition-age students is a plus
- Knowledge of specialized instructional approaches and accommodations for students with visual impairments
- Understanding of IEP development, implementation, progress monitoring, and case management
- Familiarity with the Expanded Core Curriculum and educational access needs of students with visual impairments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Proficient with technology and comfortable learning or using assistive technology relevant to student needs
- Ability to successfully complete required fingerprinting and background clearances
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, families, administrators, therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team
- Ability to exercise a high level of professionalism, tact, discretion, and respect for student and family confidentiality
School-based special education services are active and may require working with students in a variety of educational and community-based environments.
The TVI must be able to perform the physical functions necessary for assigned responsibilities, which may include sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, transitioning to and from the floor, lifting or carrying instructional materials or equipment, and engaging with students across classroom, campus, vocational, and transition-related environments.
All responsibilities will be performed in accordance with assigned duties, district safety requirements, and applicable accommodations.
