ITHACA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 400 Lake Street • Ithaca, New York • 14850 Position Title: Groundskeeper Brief Description: Maintain grounds by mowing, raking, cutting, rolling, reseeding and fertilizing lawns; plant and care for trees, shrubs, and flowers; assist in the preparation and maintenance of baseball diamonds, football fields, running tracks, playgrounds, and other athletic and recreational areas; remove snow and ice from walks, driveways, steps, and building entrances; keep grounds free of litter and debris; make deliveries, load and unload materials and move furniture and equipment. Other related work as directed by supervisor. Location(s): District Wide Anticipated Start Date: 10/20/2025 Posting Dates: 9/17/2025-Until Filled Number of Vacancies: up to 3 Hours per Week: 40 Civil Service Jurisdictional Class: Labor Required Qualifications Qualified candidates will demonstrate a basic awareness of the district’s commitments to eliminating race, class, and disability as predictors of academic performance, co-curricular participation, and discipline, and a strong willingness to support these efforts. Must be eligible for appointment as a Groundskeeper by Civil Service. Civil Service Requirements Good knowledge of grounds maintenance practices and techniques; working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of manual and mechanical equipment used in grounds maintenance and snow removal; ability to follow oral and written instructions; willingness to perform physical labor; mechanical aptitude; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Salary Range: $17.68 hr. In accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement.
