Optical Engineer

Summary:

- In this role, you will collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers to predict and improve system-level performance of novel products and prototypes.

- Using internally developed simulation tools—including an existing display emulation codebase in MATLAB.

- you will analyze results to directly enhance product and prototype performance while improving the codebase's maintainability, efficiency, and capabilities.

Responsibilities:

- Code refactoring in IQToolbox.

- Use simulation tools to model end-to-end performance of display systems

- Report analysis of these simulations to establish specifications for these display systems and ensure a successful product

- Collaborate with the larger research team to explore concepts and drive system performance to create compelling experiences

Years of Experience: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Degrees/Certifications Required: BS in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Computer Science, Color Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Top 3 must-have HARD skills:

- Deep proficiency in MATLAB

- Signal and image processing knowledge,

- Experience with source control

- Strong software development skills

- Experience with Python

Good to have skills:

- Signal/Image processing

- Mathematical modeling and simulation

- Color science

- Knowledge of display technologies (µLED, OLED, LCD, LCOS, DMD) or display pipeline architecture

- Familiarity with display metrology/calibration, image quality metrics, or human perception

- Prior work experience preferred but not required

Difficulties: There is a steep learning curve in becoming familiar with the code base and what it does.
