Job Description
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Java/Scala Developer with strong experience building and supporting high-throughput, low-latency trading platforms . The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, algorithmic trading, and performance optimization.
The developer will be responsible for designing and scaling microservices that support real-time trade execution algorithms while ensuring ultra-low latency, high availability, reliability, and compliance with risk and regulatory requirements . This role will work closely with Quantitative Developers, Product Managers, and other technology teams to deliver highly performant production systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, with significant experience in Java and Scala .
- Expert-level knowledge of Core Java , preferably Java 17+, including advanced multithreading, concurrency patterns, and the Java Memory Model.
- Strong production experience with Scala , including functional programming, immutability, and JVM-based distributed systems.
- Experience with Scala technologies such as Akka, Play Framework , or hybrid Java/Scala applications is a plus.
- Extensive experience developing microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud .
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes ; familiarity with Istio, Linkerd, or other service mesh technologies is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with high-performance messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka, Solace, or Aeron .
- Experience with low-latency data technologies such as Redis or Hazelcast .
- Strong SQL/NoSQL database experience, particularly for trade persistence, transaction processing, and audit requirements.
- Experience with automated testing and TDD/BDD practices.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI .
Trading & Financial Domain Experience
- Strong understanding of the complete trade lifecycle , including order management, execution, clearing, and settlement.
- Proven experience developing, maintaining, or supporting algorithmic trading engines and Smart Order Routing (SOR) systems .
- Understanding of market data structures, including L1, L2, and L3 order books .
- Experience working with real-time market data and high-throughput trading systems.
- Knowledge of relevant financial-market regulations and reporting requirements, including MiFID II and SEC Rule 606 .
- Experience working in capital markets, electronic trading, investment banking, or financial technology environments is highly preferred.
