Access Associate

SUMMARYAs an Access Associate, you will be responsible for many administrative support duties, such as greeting patients, performing check-in and check-out procedures and processing payments. This position requires a warm and inviting disposition, as you will be the first point of contact for our patients and their families.STATUS: Part-TimeLOCATION: Newark-Wayne Community Hospital1200 Driving Park Ave, Newark NY 14513DEPARTMENT: Admitting ERSCHEDULE: Evening/Nights, EVERY weekend, Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 6:30 pm to 3:00 am, rotating HolidaysResponsibilitiesCustomer Service. Manage incoming calls while providing necessary information; greeting patients providing direction as needed and scheduling patient appointmentsRegistration & Verification. Complete the registration process for patients as defined by departmental policy; verify insurance eligibility/coverage and obtain necessary precertification/authorization when applicableBilling & Payments. Collect and process payments when applicableRequired QualificationsNonePreferred Qualifications2-year degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferredIntermediate computer skillsExcellent customer service and communication skillsEDUCATION:LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents.
