Polysomnographic Tech II

Position Summary The Polysomnographic (PSG)/Sleep Technologist I is an entry to mid-level position in the Sleep Lab department. The PSG/Sleep Technologist I will perform polysomnography testing, scoring, CPAP/BiPAP titration, oxygen titration, and manage the poly-somnogram, including test set up, electrode application, and maintaining patient safety during clinically significant events. This position works under direct or indirect supervision of an RPSGT. Communication skills are essential for this position. Position Duties Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and competencies to perform a variety of sleep procedures independently. Maintains continuing education and competencies; acquires new competencies relative to industry standards in Sleep Medicine and sleep studies working towards certification in Polysomnography. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested. Position Qualifications Education: High School Education or equivalent. Currently enrolled in or graduate from an ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (ABRET) Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program with an add‑on track in PSG, or American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) accredited, or other accredited Polysomnographic Technologist Program, or a Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Polysomnographic Certificate Program, or an Associates Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is desired. Experience: Six months experience independently performing PSG/sleep studies in a patient care environment (can include clinical rotations). Special Skills: Well‑developed PC and Microsoft Windows Knowledge. Additional Requirements: Board‑eligible or credentialing in Polysomnography. Preferred Requirements: Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association. Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credential or equivalent from the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists (BRPT). Certification / License / Registry Requirements: Basic Life Support – Required.
