Certified Medical Assistant - CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT) - Float Pool Position Details Department: PCMG-MAIN | PCMG Resource Pool Location: Phoenix Shift: Mon-Fri, Days, 8am-5pm Category: Medical Assistants Posting #: 1020113 Employee Type: Full-Time Position Summary We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and adaptable Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) to join our Float Pool team. In this role, you will provide clinical and administrative support across multiple outpatient clinics throughout the Valley, helping ensure high-quality patient care while maintaining efficient clinic operations. This position requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced healthcare environment. Required Qualifications Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or Current Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential from American Medical Technologists (AMT) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA) Graduate of a Medical Assistant program accredited by one of the following: Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), Another school approved by the U.S. Department of Education Candidates with current CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT) certification may qualify in lieu of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare or pediatric setting. Additional Requirements Willingness to travel locally to all clinic locations throughout the Valley. Reliable transportation. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication, organizational, and patient care skills. Position Duties Consistent with Medical Assistant education and under the direction of a licensed health care professional, the Certified Medical Assistant performs the following clinical responsibilities including but not limited to: Measures and records vital signs, growth parameters, medical histories, and signs and symptoms into the electronic health record Communicates patient related information to the licensed health care provider Performs electrocardiograms, pulmonary function tests, and other diagnostic testing within the Medical Assisting scope. Collects laboratory specimens (including blood specimens) Performs point of care testing Prepares and administers medications with provider authorization and adheres to all regulations, guidelines, and policies for appropriate storage, mixing, disposal, inventory and labeling of medications Performs routine screening tests Assists the provider with exams Removes sutures, changes dressings, applies bandages and other first aid procedures Prepares and instructs patients about examinations, diagnostic tests, medications, special diets, and health maintenance Disposes of bio‑hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA safety standards and hospital policies Demonstrates infection control standards related to hand washing and standard precautions including ensuring that all equipment in exam room is cleaned according to hospital policies Follows Phoenix Children's and OSHA safety rules and procedures at all times Upholds HIPAA regulations Administrative responsibilities include but are not limited to: Communicates prescriptions to pharmacies Processes medication refills as directed by a provider and according to hospital policies Obtains prior authorizations for medication Obtains prior authorizations for DME Screens telephone calls and takes accurate clinical messages within the Medical Assisting scope of practice as well as in accordance with Phoenix Children's policies Returns patient calls with provider directed instructions Assists patients and providers in completing documentation and any other paperwork in which a provider is required to disclose and/or attest to Utilizes medication reconciliation tools within EHR. Cleans and restocks exam rooms In some clinics, may serve as an eligible witness to cycle counting and wasting of controlled substances Follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct Remains up to date with certifications, company mandated training and professional development. May be required to float to other practices as needed by hospital and/or as requested by management. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
