Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Mainland - Part Time Days

Description The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan. Assessment – an orderly process consisting of the identification, gathering and organization of subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural. Planning – an organized step in the process that consists of the identification of actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) that result in a documented plan of care. The plan of care provides direction for the patient/family/significant other and interdisciplinary team. Intervention – the specific interventions or orders that are implemented consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan. Evaluation – a step in the process that involves determining the effectiveness of the interventions in achieving the plan of care and determining the conclusions concerning the achievement or lack of achievement of desired outcomes. The evaluation may initiate the need for reassessment and revisions to the problems, goals, plan of care, and interventions. This step provides for documentation of required actions. Patients have problems identified and prioritized relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational and social status. Goals are identified consistent with the problem to provide direction for patient care and health promotion. Education is consistent with the identified problem and associated goals and is seen as critical to creating an environment that promotes patient empowerment. Employee may be required to perform Limited Laboratory Services to include patient identification and preparation for specimen collection, processing samples for testing, performing required quality control testing and instrument maintenance and function checks, monitoring, recording and reporting test results to clinicians to include critical values, and maintaining competency/certification of the aforementioned tasks and duties. Licensed and registered care providers are responsible for utilizing the care process relative to their scope of practice and knowledge base, may document the assessment, plan, intervention and evaluation. All patient care activities are administered according to standards, procedural guidelines and organizational policy. The Registered Nurse actively supports performance improvement initiatives and provides leadership to other members of the patient care team. By participating in educational activities, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth. Clinical Areas & Certification Requirements Emergency Room – City and Satellite Hammonton. Preferred: 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency room experience. Required: ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer. Minimum of 8 contact hours of education each year in basic trauma assessment, intervention and stabilization; in basic stroke assessment, intervention and NIHSS to be completed by 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter. PALS or ENPC attained within 12 months of hire or transfer. Current staff required to obtain CPI by 6/30/24; new hires or transfers required to obtain CPI within 6 months of hire and maintain continuously. Trauma Bay – Trauma experience required; 2 years preferred. ACLS, PALS & ATCN at time of hire. Preferred: 3 years critical care or trauma experience. ICU / CTICU – 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire. CCRN preferred. Cardiovascular ICU (CVU) – 2 years critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months. Heart and Vascular Unit (HVU) – 2 years telemetry experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months. Harbor (PCU) – 2 years telemetry experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months. Pines / Central Locations – Medical/surgical experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months. (Additional details such as 1 south / 1 Meadow, 2 South / 2 Meadow, 5 Harmony, 7 Harmony, 4 Michigan, 4 Harmony – all medical/surgical experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months.) Pre‑Admission Testing (PAT) – Medical/surgical experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months. Operating Room – Medical/surgical and OR experience preferred. Effective 1/1/25, all new OR team members must scrub within six months of orientation. ACLS required by 12/31/24. CNOR preferred. PACU / Same Day Surgery / Recovery Room – Critical care or PACU experience required. ACLS required at time of hire or transfer. PALS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Intervention Radiology – 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; interventional and critical care experience preferred. ACLS at time of hire or transfer. PALS required within 1 year of hire. Cath Lab / Electrophysiology (EP) – Critical care, ER, cath‑lab or telemetry experience preferred. ACLS at time of hire or transfer. Endoscopy – 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; endoscopy, telemetry and critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months. PALS, CCRN, CGRN preferred. Radiation & Oncology – Oncology experience preferred. OCN preferred. ONS chemotherapy and biotherapy competency provider required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Structural Heart – 2 years cardiology experience. Ability to perform phlebotomy, EKG, IV insertion. ACLS required at time of hire or transfer. Wound Care & High‑Performance Oxygen (HBO) Training – Wound care and HBO training course through Healogics required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Psychiatry / Behavioral Health – Medical/surgical and psychiatric experience preferred. QPRT annual education required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Acute Partial / Child / Adolescent Program – Experience in behavioral health setting required. Crisis intervention/prevention preferred; tracked by department leadership. Labor & Delivery (L&D) – 2 years L&D experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months. NRP required within 1 year. Neonatal ICU (NICU) – 2 years NICU experience preferred. NRP required within 1 year. Mother/Baby Unit (OB) – 2 years mother/baby experience preferred. NRP required within 1 year. Perinatology / Fetal Medicine (MFM) – 3 years labor & delivery experience preferred. EFM‑C certification within 12 months. Pediatrics – Medical/surgical experience preferred; pediatric experience strongly preferred. PALS required within 1 year. Qualifications – Education & Licensure Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. RNs hired without BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year and complete within 3 years. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or a valid multi‑state license. BLS required. Valid NJ Driver's License required for employees in the Adult and Child Partial Programs. Experience Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Incumbents within the position will be trained accordingly and expected to demonstrate skill within 30‑60 days. Performance Expectations Demonstrates capacity to perform department‑specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Work Environment Potential exposure to hazards of the hospital environment, blood‑borne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and injury. Physical requirements include considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching; extensive standing and walking (including stairs); lifting approximately 25‑50 pounds frequently and 50‑100 pounds occasionally with assistance; pushing and pulling heavy equipment. Some departments require color discernment. Electrophysiology Lab & Procedural Areas Similar hazards and physical requirements as above, with added radiation exposure and lead wear. Tasks include transporting patients, manual dexterity for instrument transfer, maneuvering in confined areas, and moving patients among beds, stretchers, and procedure tables. Unit & Populations Served Bariatric – morbidly obese adults with comorbidities such as cardiovascular, metabolic, renal, pulmonary conditions. Cath Lab – cardiac/vascular conditions including CAD, carotid stenosis, renal stenosis, PVD. Critical Care – acute medical/surgical care for conditions such as AMI, CAD, PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, shock, renal failure, metabolic disorders. Behavioral Health – includes bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, psychosis. Endoscopy – chronic pain management, GI, pulmonary and cardiovascular endoscopic procedures. Emergency Department – triage, assess and treat all ages for various conditions across body systems. Intermediate Care – monitored post‑surgical care of neuro, GI, GU/GYN, peripheral vascular, orthopedic procedures. Medical Surgical – diagnoses including orthopedic, neuro, GI, GU/GYN, renal, metabolic, pulmonary, and isolation precautions. Telemetry – cardiac/cardiovascular, neuro, GI conditions including CAD, PVD, COPD, CHF, metabolic disorders. Telemetry Stroke – cardiac/cardiovascular, neuro, renal, GI conditions including CAD, PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, metabolic disorders. Wound Care – ostomy diversion surgeries, wound care, pressure sore/ulcer care. Structural Heart – adults with structural heart disease, CAD, PAD, heart failure, lung disease, obesity, diabetes, arrhythmias. Reporting Relationship This position reports to patient care unit or department leadership.
