Program Mentor

Salary: $65,000 - 105,000 per year Requirements:

• We require at least 2 years of college coursework completed.
• We seek experience in K-12 education, youth development, or a related field.
• We require at least 1 year of experience working with middle school or high school students.
• We value familiarity with the needs of underrepresented and first-generation students.
• We require strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and outside partners.
• We expect the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• We look for strong problem-solving ability and creative thinking to identify solutions.
• We require proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and the ability to learn and use our current software and technology systems.
• We require commitment to our mission, values, and strategic goals.
• We require availability for weekend and evening hours as needed for program support and special initiatives.
• We require reliable access to transportation.
• Preferred: a bachelors or associate degree completed.
• Preferred: comfort with different learning styles and approaches.
• Preferred: fluency in a second language relevant to our student population.

• We deliver lesson plans and activities while adapting content and facilitation methods to meet student needs and learning styles.
• We provide academic support through homework help, study skills, organization, and referrals to tutors and other resources.
• We support high school seniors with the college application process, including college searches, applications, essays, and scholarship opportunities, as appropriate.
• We prepare materials and learning spaces so programs run smoothly and effectively.
• We assist with attendance, supervision, transitions, and other operational duties during program hours.
• We collaborate with staff to ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery and a positive student experience.
• We participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development to strengthen mentoring and facilitation skills.
• We remain flexible by supporting a variety of program activities and taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
• We work after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5:30 between October 1 and May 15.
• We work Saturday programs from 8:30 to 1:30 between October 1 and May 15, with occasional later end times.
• We may work weekdays, weekends, or both.
• We attend occasional Friday meetings and training sessions.
• We may have opportunities to work during school breaks, including summer, with different schedules.

This part-time, seasonal Program Mentor role runs from late September through May for up to 20 hours per week and is part of our Programs & Opportunities Team.
